Where are you Christmas?

I feel like Cindy-Lou-Who today. Maybe I should burst out in song, "Where are you Christmas?"

I just got back from a full day of "Christmas Shopping" and feel like a complete scrooge. I hated the whole day. And that's not how Christmas should be. I didn't like how Christmas has become a day of buying people a lot of stuff they don't really need with money we don't really have or should spend on something useful, like my bills for example. I mean, don't get me wrong, I think every kid should get some Christmas presents from Santa and even I enjoy them, but it's all what people focus on these days. Drives me crazy. It's like people have to do the, "I have to get a gift as good or better than what they are giving me or else they won't like me or I'll be embarrassed. . ." Come on, people.

That last paragraph seemed very scrooge-ish. But, I am sick of the tom-foolery. Let's just focus on Christ and the true meaning of Christmas. Let's focus on serving other and not trying to impress them. For Christmas, all I want is to go up into the mountains and stay in a cozy cabin with my family, just enjoying time together.

Also. . . what is it with MEN?!!?!? Do they not understand that when there is a pile of dirty dishes in the sink, that they might actually need to be cleaned? I dunno, call me crazy. . .
Sorry, that was irrelevant.

Today was the funeral of a dear dear aunt of mine. I called her Aunt Shirley. She was my grandma's younger sister. I loved her so much. She was in a way my last connection to my grandma-- she treated me like a grandchild and she felt like my grandma. Everything about her reminded me of Gma Stowers and in a way her funeral today and viewing last night seemed like a re-run of 2 1/2 years ago when we had those 3 funerals in a row in one summer. I think my mood has been down for that very reason. Life is hard. And you miss people. And that sucks.

But, that being said. . . life does go on. Although I might dare someone to try and piss me off at the moment due to my current mood, I know that tomorrow will be better. It's Christmas Eve and even if others may not focus on what Christmas is about tomorrow, it doesn't mean I can't. I can learn to love those screaming children in the mall- their lovely parents that elbow you in the side- the grand total of a purchase that you think is completely lame- and anything else that might be a pet peeve. I can love it.

I am blessed. I am. Have had a h@#$ of a day, but life is still good and I would like to wish my faithful blog readers a very, very, Merry Christmas. I also challenge you to do something nice for someone :)

This thing called Senioritis.

Here is the thing. Senioritis. It is a beastly thing that runs crazily through my veins, growing worse day by day. Like venom. I have this itch that I am so done with classes, student housing, and student jobs that I very well may go insane within the matter of weeks. There is so much to do in so little time but it has to get done or else, no diploma. Hopefully not, but still.

The point is, is that I am ready to start my career, get my own place, take my dog, and live happily ever after. Lol. I even have a little fixer-upper house I want to buy. I am just hoping it will still be there a year from now! I am also wanting to get myself a car again. But, seeing as I have recently quit my job, that isn't so much an option. But, life goes on.

How will Shannon ever survive this epic battle of Senioritis? Stay tuned for the next episode of, "A Day in the Life of Shannon."

October gorgeousness!

I love love love October! It is so fabulous! I am perfectly content if the weather decides to stay exactly how it is right now for the rest of winter. Except for Christmas Eve and Day. Then the snow can leave again ;) It has been a while since I have updated my blog so I am sitting here writing and deciding not to do homework that usually takes precedence over everything else. As for an update-- I am doing clinicals at Northridge high school and I love it! I am helping teach some sophomore foods classes and hopefully some Child Dev. soon. I hope they let me stay there to student teach! I am also going to be applying for a job at Weber High as a FCSE teacher so I hope it goes well! I can't believe I am all grown up enough to apply for a job like that! I am so ready to have my own classroom though and to start having a blast in what I do. I seriously love it and can't complain! It's a ton of work- more than I ever gave teachers credit for~

I LOVE college! Just an update of the last 2 wks, we "borrowed" 2 carts from walmart, put one on someone's vehicle (don't worry, it was old and they parked in Sandra's handicapped spot! Jerks.) and we suran wrapped a car. Oh the joy. I love being a rebel once in a while!

My roommates shared a great new habit with me. Nightly, they send out a text to a few people saying what they are thankful for that day. I have started doing that and I love it. I challenge you, readers, to do it. It will make your day better and more fulfilling. I love you all! Well, chances are pretty good I love you. If you are weird or psyco, I might not. haha.

I don't need a man. I have an iMac.

Here is the thing. I love my new iMac. Seriously, amazing. I am in love. I don't need a man, I have my iMac. :) haha. That should be my bumper sticker.
Anywho. . . ya know, life is good. I have been in the strangest good mood lately and I like it! Not that I am always grumpy- it's just that I'm usually stressed out of my mind and always thinking about that fact. Although I am still stressed out of my mind, life is good. I am totally content with it. I am loving school, my roommates, not really work but i love the money, I love my fam, the gospel, and gosh I am just happy and I love it. Things may suck but life is okay. There is way too much to not be grateful for! I think I have learned this positive outlook on life from my amazing roommate, Sandra. She has her own story and she amazes me everyday. She is paralyzed from the chest down after an accident a few years ago and is as positive as ever. Her, Lindsay, and I get along disgustingly well and we have way too much fun on 80s nights and what not! Anyway, life is good. Life is good.

Dating. . . Well, it sucks.

Oh the wretched world of dating. Or lack of. I am a bit on the bummied side tonight but hey, that's alright. We all have to feel like bums some time or another. This is the thing I loathe so much about dating: When you like a certain person, and you believe (but aren't 100% positive) that that certain person likes you back quite certainly, but no one has the guts to do anything about it. The question is, is do I do something about it? Will I look like a creepy stalker chick who must at all times be avoided on Sundays and things will forever be awkward between him and I?
For. The. Love. What happened to the good old times when a man had "you know whats" and actually asked a girl out. Or courting! Who even knows what that means anymore. It's such a cute word. Dang men. Court. Date. Talk. Call.

Well, the sinacle old bitty in me is done talking. Onto happier things! I took the Praxis on Saturday!!!!! YAY! It was fetching harder than I thought but I took it and now I can enjoy my last 3 weeks of summer! One of which will be spent in the blessed state of Oregon. Then, my very most LASTEST semester of classes begins! I will be living with some great girls for fall semester and will student teach this spring. I can't believe I'm a grown-up!

Ha. . . somehow I feel refreshed after writing on my blog. Does anyone even read this or is this purely for my entertainment?

Limbo

Do you ever feel like you are in a limbo-type thing? I do lately. I feel a bit numb to everything around me and I think that's a motivation for change. Change is a good thing. I changed the look of my blog, for example. But seriously, though, life is a bit monotonous at the moment. I mean, I'm not complaining because life is great and I am very grateful, I just need a change of scene. I don't know how, but it'll come. I think I am partly burned out from going to school for like 5 years straight, including summers (except 1). I am ready to get my career going. Ready to get dating again. Ready to have my own place. Ready to live. Ready to just be Shannon and not a boring person. Ha. Summer has been good so far, though. I have been working and going to school. I did get to take a sweet action and much needed trip to Moab. I don't really have any camping trips planned which is a bit lame, but will be going with the fam to the Oregon coast in August which completely rocks. Anyway, sorry readers that this isn't the most exciting post, oh well! :)

We are getting old :)

Today I realized, I am getting old. Well, older. I spent a fun-filled afternoon with my favorite gals, 2 of which have gorgeous little girls. It made me realize, "wow, I'm getting old." Seriously though, I swear I was just at North Ogden Jr. High, sitting in Mrs. Billings classroom dreaming about high school. Then, I was in Humanities dreaming about graduation day and thinking the time would NEVER come when my friends and I had kids. Well, here we are! Well, here they are haha. No kids for me yet! But today made me quite excited to have them. It was so fun watching my buddies be the cutest mothers to their gals.
I started a new job this week (sorta). I just transferred to the dry cleaner's down here in N.O. so if you have dirty clothes, I want them! haha. It's good but man I'm tired. I am already burned out with work and summer school (lame, I know).
A sad fact of the day is that the U2 concert has been post-poned until 2011 which is super lame. Gosh, Bono, fix your back. Aren't you rich enough to not have health issues?!? jk. Feel better, I love you and your music.
This is a random post. But, my glorious friend brought up the fact that I have a blog today so I figured I should write on it more often. If anything, I get entertainment out of it! The quote of the day is, "As you wish." Name that movie, and you win.

Far too long. . .

My dearest fellow bloggers and blog readers, it has been far too long since I have written the word in which I will now write. Life has never been so crazy hectic before. I am learning a lot. Today signifies a lot of things. It is 2 of my best friends' birthday and it is also the 2nd anniversary of my awesome grandma Stowers passing away. Oh, and it's Earth Day, which is even more fitting. I have had a lot on my mind lately. I can be a selfish person. Is it okay to be selfish but still know you were right about something? Just curious. I feel like I am a bit in a clouded state of mind. I have so much school shiz to worry about it makes me want to vomit if I think about it too long. I just cannot wait until it is Friday, April 30. That will be a blessed day. The day after finals ends will be even better. But, then the fun all begins again on May 10, yes, I only get a 3 day break before glorious summer school begins. What the hell was I thinking taking more classes? I must love them so much I can't let them go. False! hah. Well, I am moving home for the summer. I have mixed feelings about such things. I am ready to get out of the house in which I am currently living but would like to live in my future apt across the street from the temple asap. But, family is good, and a break from Logan will be nice. I am ready to try some sweet action new things this summer. Skydiving, skiing, major bike-ridage, running, all sorts of joy. Oh, and helping with a fireworks stand should be quite enjoyable! Anywho, that's all.

Weddings :)

Well, today my dearest of dear cousins, Mandy, got married. It was actually the day I was going to get married which is a bit ironic. . . but I'm glad it wasn't me today! Weddings are long. They start out with getting up far too early in the morn and end in the late evenin' when everyone is completely exhausted, hungry, and perhaps a bit grumpy. . .but- we all grin and bear it to make that lovely couple's day so super fabulous. I think that's cool. Weddings are nice. Maybe I'll have one some day if I feel like it. Maybe. . .

I like this post.

Although my life is still good, some days, you just need to be a little pissy. Even though I have thoroughly enjoyed the day with my family, being at church, and going on a walk with my niece and dog, that pissy day is today. Why you might ask?
Well, I'm not really pissed at life itself, more just at one single person. You would think that when you are trying to better your life and to be happy, others would be happy for you. Especially someone you got extremely close to and loved. False. Not all people are like this.
Apparently, I look sickly and skinny. I have lost too much weight too fast, and my hair looks like something off of Hairspray. Well, my response is: Go to Hell. Wow that felt good to get out. I'm sorry- but being a morbidly obese girl with shitty self-esteem is NOT as attractive as the way this Hairspray gal feels now! So suck on that! Plus, I'll probably lose at least another 50 lbs just so I can look more "sickly". It's not like it'll provide a better life for myself, my future husband, and for baring children or anything. It's just for fun. Idiots. I only wish the person who needs to hear/read this would actually do so. It won't happen. But, at least it's out of my system and you readers get to enjoy my bit' o rage. Peace out~

Good is the word of the day.

Goodness it's been decades!!!!
Life is good. Busier than heck itself but good. I have a new haircut and a new lookout on life. Who knew a new look could do such a thing? Haha. Not really. A lot of things have given me a new outlook on life. I just feel good. I don't know what else to say. The End.

Yes, I am alive.

Wow people. It has been forever. A lot has been going on in my life to say the least. New Years came and went and school started up. I am basically kicking my own butt this semester (in a good way)! I have lost 25 lbs in the last little bit (and am continuing on til I feel FABULOUS dangit!) , have made new fun friends, and am taking 20 hours at USU. Who wouldn't want that? Oh, and I have patched up some awkward friendships/relationships and things are now just dandy. The sister and I are still living with the aunt and uncle which is good. . . but I'm a little ready to have my own place again, I just have to wait for the money-tree to be ready to harvest!
It is a completely gorgeous day today. The sun is out and it's saying, "yes, spring is ONE DAY CLOSER!". . .blessed sun haha. I cannot wait to not see snow til next november! So, this semester I begin clinicals, or in other words, I start watching teachers teach and helping them teach. Yikes. I start at Mt. Crest High School. I am scared to death! This semester, as mentioned before, is already quite a load but I am just ready! I have never ever ever had so many things in my life at once that will push me and challenge me and allow me to grow. i am actually quite excited for it. I need it. It's not like my college life has been easy previously, but it hasn't been terribly challenging. I think I'm ready for it. It will make me feel accomplished and smart rather than just B.S.-ing my way through classes just to get an "A" in order to keep my scholarship. I feel a little more grown up. I feel good. I feel grand. I feel wonderful.
