Yes, I'm alive!

So it's only been a "few" months since I last posted. Pretty much a TON has happened since March 6. I, Shanny, am engaged to the most awesome-est guy I could ask for and am getting sealed to him for time and all eternity on Oct. 14. Life can change so fast and unexpectedly. I feel so blessed right now! Life is great. I have a job at a junior high that I really enjoy being at and wedding plans are a blast despite the stress that comes along. I have decided that I LOVE summer. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Being a teacher definitely has it's perks :) I love to garden, camp, organize, and just do summer stuff! I'm afraid there is no way I could get all of these lesson plans and wedding plans done if I was working right now. Pretty sure that school is going to get here super quick and then the wedding just as fast! (hopefully!) . Anyway, there is my update for the day! Hope everyone is doing fabulously whether or not you still read this!

Sooo it's March!

Hello blog readers! It is now March and I realize I have not entered a blog for 2 flippin' months! I am sure you have all missed me dearly. ;)
Well, life is good. I'm over halfway done with student teaching and I very much love that fact. I like to remind myself often! Student teaching has been one of the most trying experiences of my life but I have learned sooooo much about my profession and myself. I am lucky I work with such great teachers! Some of those kids test you like you wouldn't believe and I have learned the true meaning of patience and classroom management! I will get through it, though! Only a month and a half left! But who's counting, right?
As for the other aspects of life, things are good. We had a dear family member pass away about a month and a half ago which royally sucked-- he was an awesome man! Funerals are a hard thing I decided. Whether you expect them or not. They just suck brick. But thank goodness for the knowledge we have of life after this! Such a blessing!
The dating world. . . well, let's just say I've entered it again. And it's good :) Muhahaha.

A Mighty Change

This year marks the year of "A Mighty Change" for Shannon. There has been a lot I have been pondering on and realize that this year will be full of changes. I will begin student teaching soon- becoming a real teacher and that frightens the goose-eggs out of me. Then I will GRADUATE college. I will then be applying for jobs to be an even more real teacher which is just plain nuts. I will be creating/bettering some personal habits that I know will enhance my life and my happiness-- both in spiritual aspects and physical aspects. I am super excited for these changes to happen and am ready to become the Shannon I know is in there somewhere! I know what I want and well heck, I am going for it and no one is going to stop me! Boom baby!

Where are you Christmas?

I feel like Cindy-Lou-Who today. Maybe I should burst out in song, "Where are you Christmas?"

I just got back from a full day of "Christmas Shopping" and feel like a complete scrooge. I hated the whole day. And that's not how Christmas should be. I didn't like how Christmas has become a day of buying people a lot of stuff they don't really need with money we don't really have or should spend on something useful, like my bills for example. I mean, don't get me wrong, I think every kid should get some Christmas presents from Santa and even I enjoy them, but it's all what people focus on these days. Drives me crazy. It's like people have to do the, "I have to get a gift as good or better than what they are giving me or else they won't like me or I'll be embarrassed. . ." Come on, people.

That last paragraph seemed very scrooge-ish. But, I am sick of the tom-foolery. Let's just focus on Christ and the true meaning of Christmas. Let's focus on serving other and not trying to impress them. For Christmas, all I want is to go up into the mountains and stay in a cozy cabin with my family, just enjoying time together.

Also. . . what is it with MEN?!!?!? Do they not understand that when there is a pile of dirty dishes in the sink, that they might actually need to be cleaned? I dunno, call me crazy. . .
Sorry, that was irrelevant.

Today was the funeral of a dear dear aunt of mine. I called her Aunt Shirley. She was my grandma's younger sister. I loved her so much. She was in a way my last connection to my grandma-- she treated me like a grandchild and she felt like my grandma. Everything about her reminded me of Gma Stowers and in a way her funeral today and viewing last night seemed like a re-run of 2 1/2 years ago when we had those 3 funerals in a row in one summer. I think my mood has been down for that very reason. Life is hard. And you miss people. And that sucks.

But, that being said. . . life does go on. Although I might dare someone to try and piss me off at the moment due to my current mood, I know that tomorrow will be better. It's Christmas Eve and even if others may not focus on what Christmas is about tomorrow, it doesn't mean I can't. I can learn to love those screaming children in the mall- their lovely parents that elbow you in the side- the grand total of a purchase that you think is completely lame- and anything else that might be a pet peeve. I can love it.

I am blessed. I am. Have had a h@#$ of a day, but life is still good and I would like to wish my faithful blog readers a very, very, Merry Christmas. I also challenge you to do something nice for someone :)

This thing called Senioritis.

Here is the thing. Senioritis. It is a beastly thing that runs crazily through my veins, growing worse day by day. Like venom. I have this itch that I am so done with classes, student housing, and student jobs that I very well may go insane within the matter of weeks. There is so much to do in so little time but it has to get done or else, no diploma. Hopefully not, but still.

The point is, is that I am ready to start my career, get my own place, take my dog, and live happily ever after. Lol. I even have a little fixer-upper house I want to buy. I am just hoping it will still be there a year from now! I am also wanting to get myself a car again. But, seeing as I have recently quit my job, that isn't so much an option. But, life goes on.

How will Shannon ever survive this epic battle of Senioritis? Stay tuned for the next episode of, "A Day in the Life of Shannon."

October gorgeousness!

I love love love October! It is so fabulous! I am perfectly content if the weather decides to stay exactly how it is right now for the rest of winter. Except for Christmas Eve and Day. Then the snow can leave again ;) It has been a while since I have updated my blog so I am sitting here writing and deciding not to do homework that usually takes precedence over everything else. As for an update-- I am doing clinicals at Northridge high school and I love it! I am helping teach some sophomore foods classes and hopefully some Child Dev. soon. I hope they let me stay there to student teach! I am also going to be applying for a job at Weber High as a FCSE teacher so I hope it goes well! I can't believe I am all grown up enough to apply for a job like that! I am so ready to have my own classroom though and to start having a blast in what I do. I seriously love it and can't complain! It's a ton of work- more than I ever gave teachers credit for~

I LOVE college! Just an update of the last 2 wks, we "borrowed" 2 carts from walmart, put one on someone's vehicle (don't worry, it was old and they parked in Sandra's handicapped spot! Jerks.) and we suran wrapped a car. Oh the joy. I love being a rebel once in a while!

My roommates shared a great new habit with me. Nightly, they send out a text to a few people saying what they are thankful for that day. I have started doing that and I love it. I challenge you, readers, to do it. It will make your day better and more fulfilling. I love you all! Well, chances are pretty good I love you. If you are weird or psyco, I might not. haha.
