Scratch still = Death

So. . . Scratch. Oh I could write a novel about scratch! I have been very, very, overly stressed with this game when I have a bizillion other projects due this week as well. I have come in and put in A LOT of extra time working on it and don't really feel I'm reaping many benefits. . . I mean, I got some object interaction and pretty much what I want, but I feel like it's a simple game that's slightly lame that no one in their right mind would want to play. Gosh, I'm just Ms. Complainer this evening, sorry! I feel like I have learned a lot of useful information from this class and am very appreciative to Jon for teaching it to us and for being a great instructor. So, all in all, scratch is the only complaint I have about this class. I don't think it has very many uses in my personal teaching area but hey- maybe it works for others. I just hope I get an okay grade on it seeing as it is not the most gorgeous, high-tech, Halo or Call of Duty-type exciting game. Anywho- the semester is almost coming to a close, and that's what's important!!!

Scratch=Death

So, pretty much all I have to say for my post about this week's class activities is that I basically hate scratch. I think it is a complete waste of my time and there is no way in heck I would use it in the classroom. It has very little aligned with my major and I am very, very, frustrated that we are spending this much class time on a game. I have enjoyed the class as a whole, especially the myuen, iMovie, this blog, and pretty much all the other programs but this and maybe flash. Sorry readers, it's a complaining day- but it's the way I feel about this week and it's been stressing me out more than helping me learn things. I don't think we learned enough about it to start this project. In conclusion of my rantings, I have decided that Scratch=Death. The end.

Scratch & UEN

Seeing as I've been sick a bit the last week or so, I am a little behind on my blogging as well as my understanding as to what is going on in class! Last week we did myUEN which I really enjoyed. I think it will be a great asset to me as a teacher, my students, and their parents.
This week I was unable to hear the lecture on scratch so I have been really out of the loop trying to learn it on my own and trying to figure out what exactly my point of doing this is. I am a little frustrated with it. . . I'm not sure I would actually take the time to use this as a teacher because so far, it's been very frustrating and a little cheesy (personally. . .). But, we'll see how I feel at the end of this project. I am hoping better than right now!

Flash.

Oh goodness, what a week it has been! As far as in class, to be honest, I really, really disliked flash. I pretty much dreaded doing the assignment. It wasn't too bad once I got started navigating around it but I just honestly don't think I would use it in my major within the classroom. I would much rather use something like iMovie that is more user-friendly. Perhaps if I had a more detailed lesson on flash, I'd enjoy it more, but I still think I would not really want to use it much in the classroom. We got a brief intro into making our own class websites today in class and I am really looking forward to doing that. It seems much easier and more applicable to my major.
